Bai-sha Song-mu Tomb

Japanese: 白沙宋墓 - はくさそうぼ(英語表記)Bai-sha Song-mu
Bai-sha Song-mu Tomb
A group of Song dynasty tombs in Baisha Town, 2.5 km northwest of Yu County, Henan Province, China. The group of tombs is located about 1 km north of Baisha Town, across the Ying River, at the foot of Mt. Song. Excavations were carried out by the Henan Provincial Cultural Relics Preservation Committee and others in 1951-52, and three Song tombs were investigated. All of them have underground brick-built burial chambers. The tomb of Zhao Dayong, from 1099, is divided into two chambers, a front and a back, with four walls made of brick pillars, the front chamber has a box-shaped ceiling with a lid-style top, and the back chamber has a lid-style truncated six-petaled peak. The other two tombs are slightly later in date, but both are made of brick to represent wooden architecture of the time, and the murals on the walls give a glimpse into the lives of the upper classes at the time.
