Bitters
Also called bitter. A Western liquor containing bittering agents. Generally refers to liqueurs with a strong bitter taste, and is often served as an aperitif. Bittering agents include gentian, orange peel, and quinine. Angostura bitters and orange bitters, which have a strong bitter taste, are used to flavor cocktails.
