[1] A canal that runs from north to south through the center of Kyoto City (named after Takase boats, which were used for water transport). In order to transport materials for the reconstruction of Hokoji Temple, Suminokura Ryoi applied to the shogunate in 1611 , and it was completed in the autumn of 1616. It draws water from the Kamo River at Nijo, reaches Misu in Fushimi , and connects to the Yodo River. Until the end of the Meiji period, it was widely used as a transportation route between Kyoto and Osaka. Its total length is about 10 kilometers. Suminokura River. [一] (水運に高瀬舟が用いられたところから名づけられた) 京都市の中央部を南北に流れる運河。方広寺の再興に際し、資材の運搬のため、角倉了以が慶長一六年(一六一一)幕府に出願し、同一九年秋に完成した。二条から鴨川の水を引き、伏見の三栖(みす)に至り、淀川に通ずる。明治末年まで、京坂間の運送路としてさかんに利用された。全長約一〇キロメートル。角倉川。[二] 長野県北西部を流れる川。槍ケ岳に源を発し、北流して大町市を通り、明科(あかしな)町で犀川に合流する。上流に高瀬ダム、葛(くず)温泉がある。
