1863‐1947 A Welsh-born British author, Jones' real name was Arthur Llewellyn Jones. He made his name with fantasy novels that were imbued with Celtic mysticism, and participated in the Order of the Golden Dawn, a group that could be considered a symbol of the British occult revival. In addition to Pan (1894), a story about an innocent woman who undergoes brain surgery and has a spiritual connection with a faun, and is transformed into a bizarre enchantress, and the autobiographical novel The Hill of Dreams (1907), Jones published The Archers (1915) during World War I, which depicts a scene in which an army of angels saves struggling British soldiers, and at one point this story was spread throughout the country as fact.
