Japanese: ダーウィン結節 - ダーウィンけっせつ（英語表記）tuberculum Darwini

The front, upper and rear edges of the pinna are mostly curled inwards to some extent, and are called the helix. A blunt protrusion sometimes seen on the curled-up edge of the rear upper part of the pinna is called Darwin's tubercle, or tuberculum auriculae, and is considered to be a small malformation. In rare cases, there is a malformation called the Macacus ear, in which this tubercle protrudes like a shell. In monkeys, the free edge of the pinna is not curled inwards and has a pointed tip.

耳介の前，上，後縁にわたり大部分の輪郭の縁は，多少内方にまきこんでおり，耳輪と呼ばれる。耳輪の後上部のまきこんだ縁にときにみられるにぶい突起をダーウィン結節，あるいは耳介結節tuberculum auriculaeといい，小さな奇形と考えられている。まれには，この結節が貝殻状に突出しているマカクス耳Macacus earと呼ばれる奇形がある。サルの類では，耳介の遊離縁にはまきこみがなく，先端がとがっている。
