A town in Aiko District, in the northern part of Kanagawa Prefecture, on the eastern foot of the Tanzawa Mountains. A silk-raising region, the city center, located in the middle reaches of the Nakatsu River, has long been known for its silk thread production. The textile industry is still thriving today, with an industrial complex and many businesses moving into the area. Upstream is the Nakatsu Valley, a famous spot for viewing autumn leaves. 神奈川県北部，丹沢山地東麓の愛甲郡の町。養蚕地帯で，中津川中流部にある中心市街は古くから絹撚糸の産で知られていた。現在も繊維工業が盛ん。工業団地があり，企業が進出している。上流に紅葉の名所中津渓谷がある。宮ヶ瀬ダムが2000年完成。34.28km2。４万2089人（2010）。
