The role of learning in behavior
Releasers and innate releasing mechanisms are genetically determined by each species of animal, and the behavior that emerges as a result is called innate behavior (previously, this was called instinctive behavior, but the term is no longer used today due to the ambiguity of the concept of instinct). On the other hand, there are certainly behaviors that are shaped by experience and learning, and these are called learned behaviors. There has long been a debate about whether behavior is innate or learned, but the answer to this question is not simple.
