Tombs of the Kings of Zhongshan

A group of royal tombs from the Zhongshan Kingdom during the Warring States period, located in Pingshan County, Hebei Province, China. Excavations were carried out on Tombs 1 and 6 and their associated tombs from 1974 to 1978. Each tomb had a large enclosure, and the remains of a hall and corridor remain on the enclosure of Tomb 1, indicating that a building had been built on top of the tomb. The tomb's pit was shaped like the character "中" and had a large chamber in the center. Numerous artifacts were discovered in these tombs and associated tombs, including a bronze triple-pronged spear-shaped vessel, the nine tripods of the Zhongshan king, a bell, a gold and silver inlaid dragon and phoenix-shaped scheme, a gold and silver inlaid folding screen pedestal, a jade bi, a pendant, a black ceramic tripod, a jar, a pan, and beans. In particular, Tomb 1, thought to be the tomb of King Saku of Zhongshan, unearthed an unprecedented bottle of aged wine and the oldest architectural drawing ever discovered in China, the "Trillion Area Map."

中国河北省平山県に存在する戦国時代中山国の王墓群。 1974年から 78年にかけて，1号墓および6号墓とそれらの陪葬墓の発掘調査が行われた。いずれの墓も大きな封土を有し，1号墓の封土上には，享堂や回廊の遺構が残り，墓上に建物が建っていたことが判明している。墓の墓壙は「中」字形を呈し，中央に大きな槨室を有していた。これらの墓と陪葬墓からは，青銅の三鋒戟形器，中山王九鼎，編鐘，金銀象眼竜鳳形方案，金銀象眼屏風台座，玉製の璧，えん，佩，黒陶の鼎，壺，か，盤，豆など多数の遺物が発見されている。ことに，中山王さくの墓と考えられる1号墓からは，発掘史上類をみない古酒や，中国で発見された建築図面としては最古の「兆域図」が出土した。
