Gorobei Shinden

This new village was developed by Ichikawa Gorobei in 1626, and is located in what is now Asashina Village, Nagano Prefecture (now Saku City). In 1631, an irrigation dam was dug and water was successfully drawn from the Kakuma River. The village was originally called Yashima Shinden, but was later renamed Gorobei Shinden. In 1633, the land survey yielded 439 koku. In 1642, Gorobei was rewarded for his development and given a reward of land. It first became part of the Komoro Domain, and later the Shogunate. 1626年，市川五郎兵衛が開発した新田村で，現在の長野県浅科(あさしな)村（現・佐久市）内に所在する。1631年用水堰を開削し鹿曲(かくま)川からの引水に成功，当初は矢島(やしま)新田とよばれたが，のち五郎兵衛新田と改めた。1633年の検地高439石余。1642年，五郎兵衛は開発の功を賞され，褒美地を給付されている。初め小諸藩領，のち幕府領となった。
