Isabel II

Japanese: イサベル[2世](英語表記)Isabel II
Isabel II
1830‐1904
Queen of Spain. Reigned 1833-68. With her mother, Queen Maria Cristina, as regent, she ascended to the throne at the age of three, but for the next six years she fought against forces that sought to invalidate her succession (the Carlist Wars). The issue of the legitimacy of her succession was a constant source of domestic unrest during her reign. She took control of the country from 1843, and married her cousin, Francisco Asís, in 1846. During the periods of power of the Moderate Party (1833-40, 1844-54) and the Progressive Party (1854-56), there were frequent riots and coups, and the constitution was rewritten four times.
