Pteraspis (English spelling)
This fish belongs to the Pteraspididae family of the Pteraspid subclass of the Gnatha class, and lived in the Early Devonian period of the Paleozoic era. The Pteraspid family includes the world's oldest vertebrate fossils, such as Anatolepis , discovered in a late Cambrian layer in Wyoming, USA. The body of Pteraspis is covered in bony armor. Its caudal fin is an inverted heterocerca, with the lower lobe more developed than the upper lobe. It has a single spine on its dorsal side and a stabiliser protruding from the side of its body.
