[Born] 1193/1194? Kyoto [Died] August 28, 1252 (Kencho 4). A Hosso sect monk in the Nara and Kamakura periods. He became a monk at Kofuku-ji Temple at a young age and studied Hosso. He later traveled to various temples to further his studies, and was particularly skilled in Inmyo (Buddhist logic) and became famous. In 1230 (Kanki 2), he became a lecturer at the Vimalakirti Society, and then became Hoin Gon Daisozu. He worked with Kakusho to restore the precepts, and also worked hard to promote the prosperity of Buddhism, such as by rebuilding Chisokuin Temple at Todai-ji Temple. His main works include Shinshin Yoketsu, Inmyo Daisho Shisho, Kanjin Kakumu Sho, and Sokyoroku Yogi.
