A public transfer bank established in Amsterdam in 1609. Merchants from all over Europe, who were active in commerce and trade in the city, deposited various currencies of various countries in the bank, which was converted into bank currency and recorded them, and transferred them to other deposit accounts upon request. It became the center of world trade settlement and contributed to the prosperity of the Netherlands, but it declined with the downfall of the Netherlands, and was hit hard by the French occupation of the Netherlands in 1795.
