Japanese: 性法略 - せいほうりゃく

This is a translation of lectures on natural law given by Professor Vissering of Leiden University in the Netherlands in 1863 (Bunkyu 3) by Nishi Amane and Tsuda Shinmichi. In 1867 (Keio 3), Nishi had already completed a manuscript translation entitled Seiho Setsuyaku, but it was lost in the confusion of fleeing from Kyoto following Tokugawa Yoshinobu. Later, Kanda Kohei produced a translation and published it in 1871 (Meiji 4) under the title Seiho Ryaku. Nishi contributed a preface to this work. Seiho refers to natural law, but the general discussion on moral anthropology is poor, and the book as a whole has the feel of an introduction to general private law.

西周と津田真道が1863年(文久3)オランダのライデン大学のフィセリング教授より受けた，自然法の講義の翻訳。67年(慶応3)，西はすでに《性法説約》と題する訳稿を完成していたが，徳川慶喜に従い京都を敗走する際の混乱でそれを紛失した。のちに，神田孝平が訳本を作り，71年(明治4)に《性法略》として刊行した。西はこれに序文を寄せている。性法とは自然法のことであるが，道徳的人間学にあたる総論の部分は貧弱で，全体として一般私法入門の趣を呈している。
