…Rhymes are not unrelated to rhythm, since the formation of each line is confirmed audibly by the rhyme, and these lines then become the units that make up the work. There are three ways of arranging rhymes: rimes plates (couplet in English poetry), in which the same rhyme is arranged in pairs of two lines, rimes croisées (cross rimes in English poetry), in which two types of rhyme are interleaved in alternate lines, and rimes embrassées, in which two lines of one type of rhyme are inserted between two lines of a second type of rhyme. In addition, the rhyming method of Chinese qué qué places the same rhyme in the other three lines of the four lines of the introduction, development, turn, and conclusion, excluding the turn.
