A former town in Takada County, central Hiroshima Prefecture. Located in the Kibi Plateau, the town was primarily involved in agriculture and forestry, but it is connected to Hiroshima City by National Route 54 and has recently been converted to suburban agriculture and industrialization. The number of people commuting to Hiroshima City is also increasing. In March 2004, it merged with the towns of Yoshida, Midori, Takamiya, Koda, and Mukaihara in Takada County to form Aki-Takata City. 50.60 km2 .
