Nakayama Shichiri

Japanese: 中山七里 - なかやましちり

This scenic spot stretches for seven ri (about 28 km) along the Hida River (Masuda River) in Gero City in the southern part of the Hida region of Gifu Prefecture. It is one of the highlights of the Hida Kisogawa Quasi-National Park. Along the Hida River, which cuts deeply into the Nohi Rhyolite plateau, you can see outstanding scenery such as Byobu Rock and Rakan Rock, and the fresh greenery in spring and the colorful foliage in autumn are both beautiful. The dam lake adds further variety to the natural scenery. It is a route to Gero, Takayama, and the Northern Alps, and many people visit from the Chukyo and Kansai areas.

岐阜県飛騨(ひだ)地方の南部、下呂市(げろし)の飛騨川（益田(ました)川）沿いに七里（約28キロメートル）続く景勝地。飛騨木曽川国定公園(ひだきそがわこくていこうえん)の目玉の一つ。濃飛流紋岩の高原を深く刻んだ飛騨川沿いに、屏風(びょうぶ)岩、羅漢(らかん)岩などの優れた景観がみられ、春の新緑、秋の紅葉の彩りはともに美しい。ダム湖も自然景観にいっそうの変化を加える。下呂、高山、北アルプス方面への通路にあたり、中京、関西方面などから訪れる人が多い。
