A general term for the Syngonium genus of the Araceae family. There are about 20 species distributed in tropical America, several of which are used as ornamental plants. Syngonium podophyllum, which is commonly available, is a creeping evergreen perennial plant with arrowhead-shaped young leaves and bird's foot-like incisions in mature leaves. It has a long petiole, and young leaves are 7-15 cm long, while mature leaves reach 15-60 cm. There are many varieties, and in addition to dark green, there are varieties with various milky white and pale yellow spots. It can be grown in hanging pots or large pots, or wrapped around staghorn fern. It should be kept in a bright shade indoors. It prefers high temperatures and humidity, and in addition to regular watering, it is recommended to spray the leaves with water. It needs a temperature of 8°C or higher to survive the winter. It can be propagated by cuttings during hot periods. Source: Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia About Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia Information |
