Sekizen [village] - Sekizen

Japanese: 関前[村] - せきぜん

A village in Ochi County in northern Ehime Prefecture. Population 1,009 (1995). It is made up of three islands, Okamurajima, Ogejima, and Ko-Ogejima, which belong to the Geiyo Islands in the Seto Inland Sea. To the north and west are neighboring Osakikamijima and Shimojima, both in Hiroshima Prefecture. Okamura Port is a port of call for regular ferries between Imabari and Ujina. All three islands have little lowland and are composed mostly of granite, with limestone layers exposed in places. The main industries are agriculture and fishing, with mandarin orange cultivation being particularly thriving. It is a pioneering area for Ehime mandarin oranges in Toyo, and one of the three major production areas in the prefecture.

愛媛県北部，越智（おち）郡の村。人口1009(1995)。瀬戸内海の芸予諸島に属する岡村島，大下（おおげ）島，小大下（こおおげ）島の3島からなり，北および西に広島県大崎上島･下島が隣接し，岡村港は今治～宇品（うじな）の定期船寄航地である。3島とも低地に乏しく，おおむね花コウ岩からなり，ところどころに石灰岩層が露出する。農漁業を中心とし，特にミカン栽培が盛んである。東予における愛媛ミカンの先進地で，県下三大産地の一つである。
