One of the 12 gates in the inner bailey of Heian-kyo. Opposite the outer bailey gate, Kenreimon, this gate faces the south front of Shishinden. It is 5 bays in size, with 3 doors (only the emperor passed through the center), covered with cypress bark (now covered with tiles), and has columns. There are two gates, Choraku and Eian, located 5 bays apart on the east and west sides, and were guarded by the Hyoefu. 平安京内裏の内郭 12門の一つ。外郭門の建礼門に相対し,紫宸殿の南正面にあたる門。大きさは5間,戸3間 (中央は天皇のみが通行した) で檜皮ぶき (現在は瓦ぶき) ,円柱。東西それぞれに5間離れて長楽,永安の2門が配置され,兵衛府が警備にあたっていた。
