Other writers who experienced the war in their 40s and shed a lot of blood include Ottlik Géza (1912-), Örkény István (1912-79), Mészöly Miklós (1921-), and Mándi Iván (1918-). Even after the war, they remained outsiders, away from the party's cultural policy, writing short stories that were similar to surreal short stories. After the turmoil of the Hungarian Revolution in 1956, a flood of young writers appeared with timely works, and among them Fejes Endre (1923-) became a topical writer with The Scrap Graveyard (1963), and Sánta Ferenc (1927-) with Twenty Hours (1963). Other writers of the same generation include Moldva György, Szakonyi Károly, and Csurka István.
