A large, semi-aquatic, all-white bear (illustration) that lives in the Arctic. It is a mammal of the Ursidae family in the order Carnivora. It is also called polar bear. It mainly lives on pack ice, and is sometimes considered a marine animal because it attacks prey not only on land but also in the sea. It is 200-250 cm long, 160 cm tall at the shoulder, 7.6-12.7 cm long, and weighs 150-800 kg. For a bear, it has a long neck and a small head. Its front legs are large and well suited to swimming. Its body color can be a yellowish cream color, which is thought to be the result of oxidation and coloring in sunlight from the pure white color immediately after molting.
