Also known as the Thirty-Four Kannon Temples of Chichibu, this is a pilgrimage course that visits 34 Kannon temples scattered across the Chichibu Basin (Saitama Prefecture). Together with the Thirty-Three Kannon Temples of the Saigoku and Thirty-Three Kannon Temples of Bando, it constitutes the 100 Kannon Temples of Japan. The Kannon pilgrimage begins at Seiganto-ji Temple in Kumano, passes through the sacred sites of the Saigoku, Bando, and Chichibu regions, and ends at Suisen-ji Temple, the 34th temple in Chichibu. Unlike the Saigoku and Bando regions, where most of the sacred sites are large, the Chichibu sacred sites are made up of small temples and halls, giving them a strong regional flavor.
