A large-scale rebellion (1456-1458) by the Ainu of Ezochi against the Wajin (Shamo). It was triggered by the flight of the Ando (Ando) clan, whose base was Tosaminato on the Tsugaru Peninsula, to Ezochi (1443), and the deepening conflict with the Wajin after their invasion. Ten of the "Twelve Castles in Southern Hokkaido," including Shinori Castle, a Wajin base in the southwestern part of Ezochi (present-day southern Hokkaido), fell into the hands of the Ainu at one point. The battle ended when the guest general Takeda Nobuhiro (the ancestor of the Matsumae clan), said to be from Wakasa, defeated the father and son of Koshamain, the chief of eastern Ezo, but after this Takeda Nobuhiro became the son-in-law of Kakizaki Sueshige, the guardian of Kaminokuni, and inherited the Kakizaki family. Nobuhiro's descendants took control of all the powers of the three guardians of the Japanese-controlled territories, and eventually established the Matsumae clan. → Battle of Shakushain → Related topics Ando clan | Ezo | Kakizaki clan | Matsumae clan | Japanese territories Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
