Japanese: コジャノメ - こじゃのめ（英語表記）lilacine bushbrown

A Lepidoptera insect of the Satyridae family with prominent eye-shaped patterns on the surface of its wings. It is distributed from the Himalayas through China, Taiwan, the Korean Peninsula, and then to Japan. In Japan, it is found from Honshu to Kyushu. It is more shady than its congener, the Satyridae, and lives inside forests. It generally emerges twice a year, with the spring type emerging around May to June and the summer type emerging around July to August. Its wingspan is 4.5 to 5.5 cm. Adults keep their wings closed and fly low to the ground in rhythmic hops, landing on undergrowth or fallen leaves in the forest.

翅の表面によく目だつ眼状紋をもった鱗翅目ジャノメチョウ科の昆虫。ヒマラヤから中国，台湾，朝鮮半島を経て日本に分布する。日本では本州から九州にかけて見られる。同属のヒメジャノメよりも陰地性で樹林の内部で生活する。一般に年2回発生し，春型は5～6月ころ，夏型は7～8月ころ羽化する。開張4.5～5.5cm。成虫は翅を閉じたままの姿勢を保ち，一定のリズムで跳躍するように地上近くを低く飛び，樹林の下生えや落葉の上にとまる。
