Genoveva (English spelling)

Genoveva (English spelling)
A faithful and devout woman who appears in early modern German "Volk Books" and Grimm's "Legends." While her husband, a count, was away at war, she was approached by the house sitter, but when she refused, she was instead accused of adultery. She narrowly escaped death and lived in the forest with her (her husband's) infant child for six years and three months. When she was seen by the count, who was out hunting guided by a mysterious deer, all suspicions were cleared, but she was called to heaven shortly after. It is said that the Church of Our Lady was built in the forest in the Bishopric of Trier. It was probably originally a lucky tale.
