Uzun Ḥasan

The fifth ruler of the Ak-Kōyunli dynasty. Reigned 1453-78. Grandson of Kara Uthman, the founder of the Ak-Kōyunli dynasty. His real name was Hasan Beg. He was given the nickname Uzun (meaning "long") because of his tall stature. Uzun Hasan fought against Mehmed II of the Ottoman dynasty in the west, defeated Jahan Shah of the Kara-Kōyunli dynasty in the east (1467), and crushed the army of Abu Said of the Timurid dynasty (1469), establishing a vast empire stretching from eastern Anatolia to Iran.

アク･コユンル朝第5代の君主。在位1453‐78年。アク･コユンル朝の祖カラ･ウスマーンの孫。本名はハサン･ベグḤasan Beg。長身であったことからウズン(〈長い〉の意)の呼名が付けられた。ウズン･ハサンは西方でオスマン朝のメフメト2世と対決し，東方ではカラ･コユンル朝のジャハーン･シャーを破り(1467)，さらにティムール朝のアブー･サイードの軍を粉砕して(1469)，東部アナトリアからイランにわたる一大帝国を建設した。
