A famous mountain in the Mont Blanc group of the European Alps. Its summit ridge stretches for about one kilometer along the border between France and Italy and is made up of six peaks: the eastern peak (highest point, Walker Peak, 4,205 m), the western peak (Whymper Peak, 4,184 m), Clos Peak (4,110 m), Helene Peak (4,040 m), Marguerite Peak (4,066 m), and Young Peak (3,996 m). The western peak was first climbed by E. Whymper and his party in 1865, and the eastern peak, the highest point, was first climbed by H. Walker and his party in 1868.
