Vil'kitsky Strait (English: Пролив Вилькицкого/Proliv Vil'kitskogo)

A strait in the central-northern part of the Russian Federation, separating Cape Chelyuskin on the Taymyr Peninsula at the northern tip of Siberia from Severnaya Zemlya. It connects to the Laptev Sea to the east and the Kara Sea to the west. It is about 130 km long, 56 km wide, and has an average depth of 210 m. It freezes over in winter, but is navigable in summer. It is named after the Russian hydrographer B. A. Vil'kitskiy.

ロシア連邦中北部、シベリア北端のタイミル半島チェリュスキン岬とセーベルナヤ・ゼムリャとを隔てる海峡。東はラプテフ海、西はカラ海に通じる。長さ約130キロメートル、幅56キロメートル、平均水深210メートル。冬季は結氷するが、夏季には航行可能となる。名称はロシアの水路学者ビリキツキーБ.　А.　Вилькицкий／B. A. Vil'kitskiyにちなむ。
