The code is made up of 6 chapters and 480 articles, and was created by Boissonade, who was invited from France, who prepared a draft based on the French Code d'Instruction Criminelle, published in 1808, which was translated and revised. It includes the principles of modern criminal procedure, such as the structure of criminal courts, the principle of state prosecution and monopoly of prosecution, which means that prosecutions are to be carried out by prosecutors, the procedure for preliminary examinations by investigating judges, the principle of free judgment in the determination of facts, the principle of openness and oral argument in public trials, and the system of defense attorneys.
