This alluvial plateau lies between the Sagami River and the Sakai River in central Kanagawa Prefecture. It is 140 to 30 meters above sea level. It is made up of gravel and Kanto loam layers, and the low groundwater table means poor water supply. Development has been delayed, with many areas being reclaimed after the Meiji period. Field farming is the main form of agriculture, and irrigation has progressed in recent years, but there has been a rapid increase in houses and factories, especially in Sagamihara City, Atsugi City, and Ebina City. → Related topics Ayase [city] | Kanagawa [prefecture] Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
