This is the diary of Prince Fushiminomiya Sadafusa from the early Muromachi period. It was formerly known as the Kanmon Gyoki. The entries cover the period from 1416 to 1448, but some parts are missing. Kanmon means to see or hear, and it describes everything from top-secret matters within the Imperial Court to rumors on the streets. It contains detailed descriptions of the feud between Prince Sadafusa, who was a descendant of the Northern Court (Jimyo-in lineage) but was unable to inherit the throne, and Emperor Gokomatsu and Emperor Shoko, who opposed him, and their father and son. It also contains articles about the activities of local lords, village headmen, and peasants in Fushimi Manor, Yamashiro Province (present-day Fushimi Ward, Kyoto City), who were trying to rise above the rest, and about the arts of the time, such as Sarugaku and tea ceremony. A valuable historical resource that provides information on many aspects of politics, society, and culture in the early Muromachi period. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
