A long epic poem by the 5th century Greek poet Nonnos. It consists of 48 volumes. It is a collection of stories about Dionysus (Bacchus), the god of wine in Greek mythology, and is divided into four parts: his birth and youth (volumes 1-12), his expedition to India (volumes 13-24), his battles with the Indians (volumes 25-40), and his triumphant return to Greece and his return to heaven (volumes 41-48). It is a story of the love and adventures of Dionysus, but it is also a valuable resource for research on the legend of the god of wine and other religions of the time.

5世紀のギリシア詩人ノンノスNonnosの長編叙事詩。全48巻。ギリシア神話の酒神ディオニュソス(バッコス)の物語を集成した作品で，内容は，酒神の誕生より青年時代(1～12巻)，インド遠征(13～24巻)，インド人との戦い(25～40巻)，ギリシアへの凱旋と天上への帰還(41～48巻)の四つの部分から成る。ディオニュソス神の恋と冒険の物語であるが，酒神伝説その他当時の宗教研究の貴重な資料ともなっている。
