Tanesashi Coast - Tanesashi Coast

This 12km Pacific coastal area stretches from Kabushima in Hachinohe City in the southeast of Aomori Prefecture to Okuki in the southeast. It is a national scenic spot, and was designated as part of the Sanriku Fukko National Park in 2013. On the terraces to the east of Kabushima, a breeding ground for black-tailed gulls, you will find the Taihei Ranch, a breeding ground for racehorses, and Samekado Lighthouse. Heading south, you will pass through Osuga Beach, a colony of sea buckthorns, Shirahama Beach, famous for its swimming beaches, and Yodo Pine Grove, before arriving at the wide lawns of Tanesashi. The Pacific Ocean opens up in front of you, and the coast is layered with strange rocks made of diabase tuff and basalt. There are inns, restaurants, shops, and other establishments in the surrounding area. The JR Hachinohe Line runs along the coast.

青森県南東部、八戸市(はちのへし)の蕪島(かぶしま)から南東の大久喜(おおくき)に至る約12キロメートルの太平洋岸地域。国の名勝。また2013年（平成25）には三陸復興国立公園に指定された。ウミネコ繁殖地の蕪島の東部の段丘上には競走馬の産地であるタイヘイ牧場や鮫角(さめかど)灯台がある。南下してハマナスの群落地大須賀(おおすが)海岸、海水浴場で有名な白浜海岸や淀(よど)の松原を経て、種差の広い芝生に至る。前面に太平洋が開け、海岸には輝緑凝灰岩や玄武岩の奇岩が重畳している。周囲には旅館、食堂、売店などがある。JR八戸線が海岸に沿って走る。
