...A medieval samurai family from Suruga. The family name was Fujiwara, and they were descendants of Otomaro, the fourth son of the Southern Takechimaro. Otomaro's 11th generation grandson, Korekiyo, lived in Irie, Suruga Province, and called himself the Irie family. Tsuneyoshi, the founder of the Yoshikawa clan, was Korekiyo's great-great-grandson and lived in Yoshikawa, Irie Province, for the first time to use the family name Yoshikawa (or Yoshika), and was subordinate to Minamoto no Yoritomo. During the time of Asatsune, he held the Fukui manor in Harima Province. Tsunemitsu belonged to the Hojo clan during the Jokyu War, but was appointed as the land steward of Daicho Manor in Aki Province (Yamagata County, Hiroshima Prefecture) for his achievements in the Battle of Uji Bridge in June 1221 (Jokyu 3). His son, Tsunetaka, moved from Yoshikawa Village, Irie Manor, Suruga Province, to Daicho Manor in 1313 (Showa 2). ...
