Phillipsite (English spelling)

Phillipsite (English spelling)
A type of mineral. Its chemical composition is KCa[Al 3 Si 5 O 16 ]・6H 2 O. It is also called phillipsite. It occurs in basalt cavities and salt lake sediments, but is more abundant as an authigenic mineral in pelagic sediments with slow deposition rates and deeper than the carbonate compensation depth, especially in brown clays, along with Mn micronodules. Deep-sea phillipsite is an elongated columnar crystal (monoclinic system) 8 μm to 5 mm long (mostly 10 to 20 μm), but it also occurs in complex twins and as spherical aggregates of many columnar crystals.
