Kikkawa Okitsune

Japanese: 吉川興経 - きっかわおきつね

1508-1550 A military commander in the Sengoku period.
Born in the 5th year of the Eisho era. The eldest son of Yoshikawa Mototsune. A local lord in Oasa, Yamagata County, Aki (Hiroshima Prefecture). With the powers of his relatives, Mori Motonari, the Ouchi clan, and the Amago clan all competing with each other, his future was uncertain for many years. In 1546, he adopted Motonari's second son, Motoharu, and retired, but on September 27, 1546, he was murdered by Motonari along with his own son, and the direct line of the Yoshikawa clan was cut off. He was 43 years old. He was commonly known as Jiro Saburo.

永正(えいしょう)5年生まれ。吉川元経(もとつね)の長男。安芸(あき)(広島県)山県郡大朝(おおあさ)の国衆(くにしゅう)。縁戚の毛利元就(もとなり),大内氏,尼子氏の各勢力がはりあう状況下で,永年去就がさだまらなかった。天文(てんぶん)16年元就の次男元春を養子にむかえ隠居するが,同19年9月27日元就によって実子とともに殺害され,吉川氏の正系は断絶した。43歳。通称は次郎三郎。
