Hypermetamorphosis (English spelling)

Hypermetamorphosis (English spelling)
This refers to the complete metamorphosis of insects in which the basic structure changes between the early and late larvae. This phenomenon is seen in parasitic Hymenoptera and Dentiptera, and is an adaptation to the special environment in which the larvae parasitize the host body. In Hymenoptera wasps, eggs hatch early inside the host body and the first instar is a protolimbic larva, which then becomes a limbless larva, which is unique to Hymenoptera. In Dentiptera, the first instar is a three-clawed larva, which then burrows into the host body and becomes a limbless larva.
