Atopic dermatitis

Japanese: アトピー

It is used in a similar sense to atopic disease, and is also sometimes used in a broader sense, such as "atopic reaction." It is a state of immediate immune hypersensitivity, i.e., a state that causes an atopic reaction. It is thought to be common in people with a genetic predisposition (atopic hypersensitivity) that makes them easily sensitized to allergens and prone to producing IgE. It is the cause of atopic diseases such as childhood eczema (atopic eczema), allergic rhinitis, bronchial asthma, and hay fever.

アトピー性疾患とほぼ同じ意味に使われ，また「アトピー反応」などより広い意味に使われることもある．即時型免疫過敏状態すなわちアトピー反応を起こす状態．アレルゲンに容易に感作してIgEができやすい遺伝的体質（アトピー性過敏症）の人に多いと考えられている．幼児期の湿疹（アトピー性湿疹），アレルギー性鼻炎，気管支喘息，花粉症などのアトピー性疾患の原因となる．
