...Egypt's political victory in the Second Arab-Israeli War in 1956 (invaded by Britain, France, and Israel) triggered by the nationalization of the Suez Canal led to the establishment of the United Arab Republic through the unification of Egypt and Syria in 1958, the Iraqi Revolution in the same year, and the Yemeni Revolution in 1962. The trend of Arab socialism, which held that the Arab world should have its own socialism, also gave rise to Ba'athism in the 1950s and 1960s, nationalization in Egypt, and the expansion of the public sector. However, the United Arab Republic was dissolved in 1961, and many subsequent national unification plans also failed. ...
