...When a publication whose printing plate has already been lost is republished, it is produced by faithfully reproducing the original in all aspects, including the printing method, text, layout, binding, and paper quality. In the case of woodblock printing, the original copy was used as the block copy to carve the woodblock for the reprint, and the reprint was done, which is also called "kabusebouri." In recent years, even woodblock or letterpress originals have been meticulously reprinted using offset printing, but strictly speaking, this cannot be called a reprint.
