The ideology and philosophy of a political party based on Christianity. Except for the Conservative Party in the UK, which has a state religion, most Conservative parties in Europe are Catholic parties, such as the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in Germany and the Christian Democratic Party (DC) in Italy. This is because Christianity has had many followers in European countries since ancient times, and Catholic customs and practices in Europe since the Middle Ages are linked to the political consciousness of the people.
