…German revolutionary Marxist political party. Abbreviated as KPD. It was formed in 1918 from the Spartakus Gruppe (Gruppe Internationale), which developed from the left wing of the German Social Democratic Party before World War I and formed its own organization during the war, and the Bremer Linke, a left-wing radical group in Bremen.
