A Georgian king of the Bagratid dynasty in the Middle Ages. Reigned 1314-46. Known in Russian as George V, he was called "the Brilliant." After ascending to the throne of Eastern Georgia under the control of the Ilkhanate, he achieved national reunification by uniting the Jaqeri dynasty, which had been independent since 1262, and the Kingdom of Western Georgia, which had been separate since 1259. After the death of Abu Zayd of the Ilkhanate (reigned 1317-35), he expelled the Mongolian nomads from his territory and achieved independence. He had the Code of George the Brilliant compiled, and attempted to reorganize the state into a feudal one.

グルジア中世のバグラト朝の王。在位1314‐46年。ロシア風にゲオルギー5世ともいい，〈光輝王〉と呼ばれた。イル･ハーン国支配下の東グルジア王位に就くと，母の実家で1262年より独立状態にあったジャケリ家領，1259年以来分離していた西グルジア王国を併せて国家的再統一を達成し，さらにイル･ハーン国のアブー･ザイド(在位1317‐35)の死後は，領内からモンゴル遊牧民を追放して独立を成就した。《ギオルギ光輝王法典》を編ませ，国家の封建的再編成を企てた。
