A town in Inashiki County in southern Ibaraki Prefecture. It was incorporated as a town on June 1, 1996 from Kawachi Village. It is located in a grain-producing region on the north bank of the midstream Tone River, with the Shin Tone River flowing east through the north. It borders Ryugasaki City to the west and Chiba Prefecture across the Tone River to the south. Rice farming, which is highly mechanized, and strawberry and fig cultivation are thriving. The Eastern Industrial Park was developed in 1975, and industrialization has progressed. Every May, a Chinese milk vetch festival is held in the Chinese milk vetch fields off the coast of Tagawa. The town suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 44.30 km2 . 10,172 people (2010).

Kawachi [town]

A former town in Kawachi County, central Tochigi Prefecture. It occupies flat land on the west bank of the midstream Kinu River, with Okamoto Station on the Tohoku Main Line in the south. Shirasawa, the town center, was a post town on the Oshu Kaido road during the Edo period. It produces rice, wheat, soybeans, onions, shiitake mushrooms, and other crops. Food and machinery industries are also involved. Many people commute to Utsunomiya City. In March 2007, it was incorporated into Utsunomiya City and Kamikawachi Town in Kawachi County. 47.72 km2 . Population: 35,177 (2005).

Kawachi [town]

A former town in Kamo District, central Hiroshima Prefecture. The main settlement, Nakakawachi, is located in a mountain basin in the middle reaches of the Nuta River. It is a transportation and commercial center for the region, with the Sanyo Main Line and the Sanyo Expressway passing through it. It trades lumber, and has a chopstick factory and a sawmill. In February 2005, it was incorporated into Higashihiroshima City along with Kurose Town, Fukutomi Town, Toyosaka Town in Kamo District, and Akitsu Town in Toyota District. 84.68 km2 . 7,039 people (2003).

栃木県中部,河内郡の旧町。鬼怒(きぬ)川中流西岸の平地を占め,南部に東北本線岡本駅がある。中心市街の白沢は江戸時代,奥州街道の宿場町であった。米,麦,大豆,タマネギ,シイタケなどを産する。食品,機械などの工業も行われる。宇都宮市への通勤者が多い。2007年3月,河内郡上河内町と宇都宮市へ編入。47.72km2。3万5177人(2005)。

広島県中部,賀茂郡の旧町。沼田(ぬた)川中流域の山間盆地に主集落中河内があり,山陽本線,山陽自動車道が通じ,地方の交通・商業の中心をなす。木材を取引,割りばし工場,製材所がある。2005年2月賀茂郡黒瀬町,福富町,豊栄町,豊田郡安芸津町と東広島市へ編入。84.68km2。7039人(2003)。
