Thermodilution method

Japanese: 熱希釈法 - ねつきしゃくほう（英語表記）thermodilution method

A method for examining circulatory dynamics. When cold water is mixed with blood, heat is removed rapidly and uniformly. Taking advantage of the fact that the amount of heat injected is the same as the amount of heat transferred to the blood, this method measures blood flow by plotting the temperature change of blood flowing through the cardiovascular system as a dilution curve. This method uses a cardiovascular catheter equipped with both a cold water injection port and a semiconductor thermistor that measures temperature changes. Currently, the most commonly used catheters are the Swan-Ganz catheter for measuring cardiac output and the Webster catheter for measuring local venous blood flow.

循環動態を検査する一方法。冷水を血液に混ぜると急速にかつ均一に熱が奪われる。注入熱量と血液に移行した熱量とが同じであることを利用して，心臓血管内を流れている血液の温度変化を希釈曲線として描き，血流量を測定する方法である。本法には，冷水注入穴と温度変化を測定する半導体サーミスターを同時に取りつけた心臓血管カテーテルを用いる。現在おもに用いられるのは心拍出量測定用のスワンガンツカテーテルと，局所静脈血流量測定用のウェブスターカテーテルである。
