Therefore, for future reference, this is a letter of assurance." ② In the Kamakura period, a document of promise submitted to the court by the plaintiff and defendant in lawsuits between samurai. It stated the legitimacy of one's claims, and if the claims were unfounded, it was written that one's own land should be handed over to the other party (or a third party), as a measure to prevent frivolous lawsuits. 〘名〙① 中世の契約証書の一種。土地売買、請負などの契約締結にさいし、後日の違乱による訴訟沙汰にそなえ、種々の約束文言を記しておいた証文。ふつうは「あっしょ」とよんでいる。→押書(あっしょ)。② 衆人に示す張文(はりぶみ)。※大内氏掟書‐一一六条・文明一九年(1487)四月二〇日「一就右御定法赤間関地下仁押書案文」
