[History]
The bankruptcy system, which is based on the credit system, has a long history. In Japan, there was a system of "dispersion" in the Edo period, and in modern times, the "Rules for Ransom Limit for Aristocrats and Commoners" were established in 1872 (Meiji 5) (ransom limit). The direct origin of the current bankruptcy system is a system that originated in Roman times, passed through medieval Italian city law, and developed in Western Europe (France, Germany).
