Akabane [town] - Akabane
An old town in the central-southern part of the Atsumi Peninsula, Atsumi District, Aichi Prefecture. Facing the Pacific Ocean, it is a hot climate farming town, producing a lot of melons, tomatoes, cabbages, and flowers (persimmons). The coast is part of the Mikawa Bay Quasi-National Park. In August 2003, it was incorporated into Tahara Town, Atsumi District, and became Tahara City. 23.54 km2 . 6,296 people (2003).
