…the name of a historical region in the eastern part of England. It originally referred to the area under the control of the Kingdom of East Anglia, one of the seven Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of the Middle Ages, and the place name means "East Angles." It is a vast area that stretches from the Wash in the north to the mouth of the Thames in the south, bordering the North Sea in the east and the lowlands of Fenland in the west, and is centered on the present counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, as well as parts of Cambridgeshire and Essex.
